Setting up the database

The author has created a simple java program to help keep the database up to date. It is available at:

Just make sure the paths are correct - For Example

Program Files/World of Warcraft/Interface/Addons/MagicDKP Database/

To make keeping your database updated:

1. Set it to launch WoW when it downloads.
2. Use the downloader to launch WoW whenever you want to update. (I just use it to launch WoW all the time so I don't forget)
   

A Typical Raid

Notes

In addition to boss kills and boss wipes, my guild awards DKP for attending a raid (raidattend), attending the entire raid (raidwhole), being on time (startcredit), and staying to the end (endcredit). If you don't want to award these, feel free to not call the events.


Beginning

After everyone is in the raid, I use this macro. It creates events for startcredit, Raid Whole, and Raid Attend.

/md event startcredit
/in 60 /md event raidwhole
/in 120 /md event raidattend

"/in" is a function of the Quartz addon. If you don't have it, just do each line (without the /in) with a time break in-between. If all the events happen at once, the standby addon will sometimes skip people.


Middle (Boss Wipes and Kills)

Boss wipes will be recorded when you answer yes to the "record attendance" pop-up.
For a wipe, do "/md event wipe1" with increasing numbers (wipe2, wipe3, etc).

Every 4-5 events do "/md start". This will end your current raid and create a new one. The events from the raid you just saved will be in that raid. This has to be done because the exporter sometimes bugs when the raids get too large.


End

Before anyone leaves the raid do "/md event endcredit". This can be done during looting of the last boss or shortly after.


Importing to eqDKP

You will need to preform these steps a few times if you're importing a large raid that you've split up.

We start in magicDKP. Select the raid you wish to export and click "CTRT Export". Select the text in the pop-up box and copy it (Ctrl-C).



Once you have the text copied, open "Import DKP String" on the administration panel. Paste the string in here. Press "Parse Log".



You may receive a string of errors, but none of them are critical. Scroll down to the section that looks something like the picture below. Each raid has its members/loot listed, and all you should need to do is press "Insert Raid(s)".



The members, raids, and loot should now be updated.

Event Tracking

Definition: An event (Such as a boss kill) is something that awards DKP to those attending.

1. An event records the people in the raid + those on standby.
2. It will automatically create "events" for boss kills.
3. You can use the command "/md event [Event Name]" to create an event for any templates you create in the list below. You can use this to create events for On Time, Etc

Loot Distribution & Tracking

1. Xloot will present you with a window similar to this




2. When you assign the item, you receive a box to enter to price / assign to DE or bank.




3. The items will be listed under their boss event, or the instance name if it is a trash drop.




Award Standby Credit

1. MagicDKP requires people that are on standby to have the MagicDKP_Client. The client requires two things that should be noted

• The character on standby must be in the guild
• The addon requires the Ace3 library.

2. When an event is triggered, the people with the addon (That are not in the raid) will receive this popup.




3. They may press "I'm here" to be credited for the event, or press escape to dismiss the popup.

Handling Alts

If you only have one person using magicDKP, then you can use its features to handle alts. Personally, I've done opted to register alts under eqDKP's plugin CT_RaidTrackerImport (Under Aliases).

If you do choose to register alts with magicDKP, it is a one-time process, and each time that character shows up in the future, it will do so under the main's name.

Terms

Before I continue, I believe a basic rundown of the different features would be appropriate.

1. EVENTS

   1. These are the different things that can occur in your raid.

   2. AKA Start Time, End Time, Whole Raid, Kill, Wipe

   3. They are set up inside eqDKP once and provide default values for...

2. RAIDS

   1. Raids are one time occurrences.

   2. They use the EVENT as a template, and are created primarily by the RaidTracker plugin.

   3. They do NOT display your entire raid night, but a single snapshot of the raid (More on this later)

3. EVENT TRIGGER

   1. This is found under (CTRT Import panel > Settings) in the sidebar.

   2. With the right settings, when one of these events occurs it will create a raid for the time.

      1. For Example: You kill Heigen, it will record that kill and those present
